Ponderly — Privacy Policy
Ponderly is a voice-native journal. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who processes it. Questions: support@ponderly.co.

What we collect
- Account: when you sign in with Google, we store your email address and a Google account identifier, plus a session token, to keep you signed in.
- Journal entries: the text of your entries and anything derived from them you choose to keep — transcripts, tags, moods, and action points. These are stored in your account so they sync across your devices.
- Audio: voice recordings are captured on your device to produce a transcript. Audio is transcribed and then discarded — it is not stored on our servers.
- Support messages: if you use the contact form, we store your message and your account email so we can reply.
- Operational data: minimal counters for rate-limiting and standard server logs. These never contain your journal content.
How we use it
- To provide the journal: save, sync, search, and display your entries.
- To transcribe voice entries into text.
- To generate optional AI reflections (a short summary, tags, a gentle follow-up question, and suggested action points).
- To respond to support requests and keep the service secure.
Where your data is stored (not end-to-end encrypted)
Your entries are stored on our servers so they are available on all your devices. This means our infrastructure can technically read entry content. Ponderly is not end-to-end encrypted. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Service providers
- Cloudflare — hosting, database storage, server-side transcription (Workers AI), and email delivery for the contact form.
- Anthropic — the text of an entry is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the optional AI reflection. It is processed to return that reflection and is not used to train models. Entries you mark private are never sent for AI reflection.
- Google — sign-in (authentication only).
- Stripe — if you subscribe, Stripe processes payment details. We store only your subscription status, never card data.
Your choices
- Export: download all your entries as a JSON file from Settings at any time.
- Delete: delete individual entries in the app. To delete your entire account and its data, email support@ponderly.co.
- Sign out: ends the session on that device.
Retention
We keep your entries until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. Audio is discarded immediately after transcription. Support messages are kept as long as needed to help you.
The browser extension
The Ponderly browser extension does not itself collect or store any data. It only opens the Ponderly web app in a window; anything you capture there is handled as described above.
Children
Ponderly is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We'll post any changes here and update the date above. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app.
